Deceased Preference Service has been developed by charity sector specialists
Smee and Ford Ltd (in association with Millennium plc) to give relatives
or partners of the deceased an easy, secure and proven method of removing
the deceased person's name and address details from mailing lists.
In 2002, over 22 million pieces of mail were received
through people's letter-boxes addressed to the deceased*. Every
year, many families experience the heartache of having to call the
companies concerned at this distressing time, and request the removal
of their loved one's personal details from marketing lists. Many reputable companies are trying to do something
about this situation by subscribing to our service and making sure
that the deceased are taken off their mailing files. Companies know
this makes sense, because it avoids causing further distress to
the bereaved. * Source: CIFAS, The UK's Fraud Prevention
